Terrance S. McGovern

Mr. McGovern is the Founder and Managing Partner of Crystal Cove Capital LLC. He is an Investment Banker with over 20 years' experience advising corporations on executing and reaching their strategic goals. As a senior executive and principal shareholder of major financial institutions, he has advised on over 200 mergers and acquisitions, financings and other strategic advisory assignments in a variety of industries. His background in engineering and science allows him particular insight with manufacturing and medical device companies.

Terrance’s career has included: Executive Managing Director at CIBC in NY, where he was responsible for Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Placements; Co-Head of Investment Banking at Duff & Phelps in NY; Managing Director and Head of US Mergers and Acquisitions of Burns Fry in NY and Toronto; Principal of Asset Management Group, a national registered investment advisor, where he advised wealthy individuals on venture capital and tax-advantaged investments; Vice President of J.J. Lowrey Co. NY, where he structured private placements for institutional investors. He started his career in the family engineering business which designed and built custom equipment for the medical device and drug industry. He also has extensive experience as a Principal Investor.

Terrance has a BS in Biology from Georgetown University, an MS in Physiology from Rutgers University and a MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is on the Board of Directors of Interface Associates, the Foundation Board and Board of Trustees of the OC School of the Arts and on the CEO Council of Mission Hospital. He is also a principal of Speed Merchants, the premier sports training protocol. He maintains several NASD licenses including Series 7, 24 and 63.

Dr. Paul DeRidder

Paul A. DeRidder MD MBA Venture Partner . Dr. DeRidder brings a wealth of medical, technical and business experience to assist our investment banking clients in successfully achieving their strategic and financing goals.

Dr. DeRidder is a board-certified Urologist, having received his medical training at the University of Michigan Medical School. He was in private clinical practice for twenty-two years, and is a past Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology in the Department of Surgery, at the University of California-Irvine Medical School. Dr. DeRidder was a charter member of the University of California, Irvine, Healthcare Executive MBA program, and completed his MBA in November, 1997. He is presently a member of the Tech Coast Angels, Executive Committee. He leads the Healthcare Taskforce for the Tech Coast Angel Orange County Network.

He has been a co-founder and CEO of several specialty management organizations, and was a co-founder and Board member of Urotherapies, Inc.; a nationally based single specialty management group dedicated to the enhancement of urologic specialty care. Dr. DeRidder, has been an Advisory Board Member for Nextphase, a company providing web-based clinical trial management and process optimization solutions. He is a previous member of the Board of Directors of We2 (Women Executives and Entrepreneurs) and presently is on the Board of Advisors for Dexteus, Inc. a medical device development company. Dr. DeRidder also holds several patents on various medical devices.

Dr. DeRidder completed the Director’s Training Program at the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson Graduate School of Management and the Harold Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. He is a member of the American Entrepreneurs for Economic Growth Organization. Dr. DeRidder is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Corporate Partners Program at the University of California, Irvine, Paul Merage School of Business and member of the Executive Committee and Charter Member of the Business School’s Dean’s Leadership Circle. Dr. DeRidder remains a member of UCI’s Association of Voluntary Clinical Faculty He is past Chairman of the Section of Urology at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California. Dr. DeRidder is a Diplomate of The American College of Physician Executives. He was recently recognized as a Certified Physician Executive by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management.


Dr. John MacGillivray, is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and NewYork-Presbyterian hospital. He currently serves as Team Physician to the US Ski Team, Orthopaedic Consultant for the New York Giants, and the National Hockey League Players' Association. He has also served as team physician for the St. John's University, New York Saints Professional La Crosse Team and the US Snow Boarding Team. Dr. MacGillivray has developed new techniques involving arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, labral repair of the shoulder, and ligament reconstruction of the knee. He also has a clinical and scientific interest in cartilage restoration of the knee and shoulder and has written numerous articles and book chapters on problems of the shoulder, knee and elbow. He has won the prestigious Neer Award once and has been nominated twice for his research of rotator cuff disease.


Dr. Ping Wang, is the Director of the Joslin Diabetes Center at the University of California, Irvine, the world leader in diabetes research and care. He is also the Division Chief of the Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism section of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. A diabetes and metabolism specialist, Dr. Wang earned his medical degree from Kaohsiung Medical College, Taiwan, and pursued his subspecialty fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard Medical School. His research interests include insulin-like growth factor, heart, diabetes, and diabetes complications.


Dr. Larry Khoo is the Co-Head of the UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center in Los Angeles and is a an Assistant Professor of Spine Surgery at UCLA Medical School. He is a specialist in minimally invasive spine surgery techniques and presents the state of the art in spine surgery to scientific symposia world wide. He is an advisor to a number of major medical device companies as well as venture backed enterprises. Dr. Khoo earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Stanford and his MD at Yale. He did his surgical residence at the University of Chicago.


Joseph Stupecky is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Interface Associates, a leading company in the design and manufacture of balloon catheters for primarily interventional cardiology. Trained as a mechanical engineer in Czechoslovakia, he is the holder of four issued patents and three pending patents. He is also the founder of both Alpha Technologies and BICORE Monitoring Systems which were ultimately purchased by Sensormatics and what is now Viasys.
